Most of components/devices we buy are priced in dollars. 
Because, currency markets are too much volatile at the moment, we pice the final board in dollars to minimize changing of the price.

How does it boot? 

You have to boot from MicroSD card or eMMC Module. 

Can I buy OS pre-loaded MicroSD card or eMMC Module?  

Yes. Add to cart it when you purchase the storage devices. 

Can I add extra memory? 

No. The RAM is a POP package on top of the SoC, so it’s not removable or swappable.

How can I get Android BSP source code?  

It will be released on our download page from the first shipping date. 

How can I root(rooting) the ODROID?  

Android 4.0.x on ODROID could be rooted with "Unlockroot" program. http://www.unlockroot.com/

How can I install the Google Play (Android Market)? 

Download GMS(Google Mobile Service) package from internet and install it with below instruction.
1. Unzip GMS package in gms directory for example. Enter into gms directory
2. adb remount
3. adb push system/ system
4. reboot and enjoy

When can I get schematics? 

I have ordered. Can I get schematics earlier?  

No. 

I have purchased second-hand one. How can I get schematics?  

You need to ask to him/her who purchased it at first.  

Can I get layout file and gerber file?  

No.

Can I get data sheet for all parts?  

No. Available data sheets are all linked on our website. Others might need NDA process with chip manufactures. 

Can you test it to make sure that it is suitable for ? 

If you want to use it for something that we haven’t tested, and that it’s not intended for (i.e. anything but the educational work we’re planning for it), then that development work is up to you.

I have a USB-Serial converter. Should I buy your USB-UART module kit?
Yes. Because UART port of ODROID-U is 1.8Volt interface.
So the normal USB-Serial can't be used with ODROID-U.
We strongly recommend our USB-UART module kit.

How to access internet with ODROID-U?
- Use a 10/100 LAN Ethernet connection
or Buy the WiFi module kit for wireless connection.

DISPLAY

 

What display can I use? 

There is HDMI out available on ODROID-U. 
HDMI can support only 720p/1080p resolution with 16:9 wide display.
HDMI-DVI converter will not work properly because Exynos4 HDMI is not compatible with VESA standard.
So most of old PC monitors can't be used.

Where can I get HDMI cable?  

You can purchase it from any open market such as ebay. Or you can purchase one on our website. 
Micro-HDMI or Type-D connector is required.

My monitor doesn't have HDMI port. Any other display options are available?  

You can use LCD kit which you can purchase on on our website. 

Is there GPU binary file?  

Yes. the GPU binary files is located in the Android root file system.
X11 binary is not available now. But we will try to get and release it soon.

AUDIO

 

Is sound over HDMI supported? 

Yes. 

What about standard audio in and out? 

There is a standard 3.5mm jack for audio out.

POWER

Which power adaptor should I use?  

We recommend 5V 2A or 3A adaptor. Inner diameter is 0.8mm, outer diameter is 2.5mm. Center is Positiver an Outer is Negative. Normally ODROID-U consumes about 1A in most cases. But it can go up to 3A if you use some USB hard disk drives in parallel.

SOFTWARE

 

What operating system (OS) does it use? 

We recommend Android as our default distribution. The OS is stored on the MicroSD card or eMMC Module. 

Which Android version is included?  

Android 4.0.4,  Android 4.1 Jellybean will be supported in near future.

Is full source code open and can I build it by myself?  

Yes. But some of them are library(binary) format.

Do I need to patch for optional accessories that purchased from this website?  

No 

Will It run Ubuntu or other Linux distros?  

Ubuntu 12.10 is installable. But, we need more optimization / configuration for hardware acceleration.
Refer our forum to access the latest Linux distros.

NETWORKING

 

Does the device support networking?  

Yes. There is 10/100 RJ45 Ethernet port. 

Is there WiFi?  

It will be available via an optional USB dongle.
